Dylan Stone Bio

Stone was nominated in 2020 for a Canadian Folk Music Award (New/Emerging Group) with his band The Unfaithful Servants. With his rock & roll outfit, The Dylan Stone Band, he has warmed up stages for the likes of Keith Urban, EVERLAST and Alejandro Escovedo. An interesting and storied career has led him to perform on stage with musical heavies including Robert Randolf and Colin James and to play his songs for music legends like Lou Reed and Rodney Crowell.  A modern-day troubadour, he has lived and toured across Canada and toured the West Coast extensively. Stone's timeless songwriting weaves raw emotion with lingering melodies and he is most at home on stage with guitar in hand.

  
Stone has been busy in the recording studio preparing for a new solo release in 2025. The led single ‘You Are’ was recorded with Vince Vaccaro on Vancouver Island, BC. This latest recording is a departure from Stones signature sound and will show listeners a new depth to his writing and music. Expect the lead single to be released in the Spring of 2025 and a full length LP to follow in fall 2025. He also has just announced plans to return to the studio with The Unfaithful Servants for their anticipated sophomore album. They will be recording in the winter of 2025 with release dates to be announced. 

Dylan’s music lives in a variety of projects and collaborations.  The pursuit of an acoustic sound led to the formation of his critically acclaimed group The Unfaithful Servants.  The Servants debut album was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award as New/Emerging Group Of The Year in 2020. As described by Kelly Nakasuka (Islands Folk Fest/CBC Host) "The Unfaithful Servants are one of the most exciting bands from Vancouver Island in some time...gorgeous harmonies and fine song writing, beautiful instrumental interplay and some seriously rippin' solos."  The Unfaithful Servants’ debut album, released June 2019 was recorded at Shawnigan Lake Studios with legendary Grammy-Award winning engineer Steve Smith (Garth Brooks, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wonder). The album is a stunning collection of folk / bluegrass songs that traverse borders and (at times) genres. The group knows something about drawing inspiration from rebellion and restlessness. This struggle with finding a solid footing in life manifests itself within their process, and gathering from their myriad travels and connections - they have created something that is both familial and engaging. “We represent a tradition of music that stems from The US but we are uniquely Canadian,” says singer-songwriter Dylan Stone. “The level of performance in the acoustic music genre, combined with the type of song-writing and delivery is not a common act to see in Canada. There are lots of great instrumentalists and song-writers who stem from traditional backgrounds, however we have come to see that our heart and soul does not live in the traditional string music world and we bring something different to the table.”   The Unfaithful Servants have quickly gained a reputation in Western Canada as a must-see act. With critically acclaimed performances under their belt (Vancouver Island MusicFest, Salmon Arm Roots & Blues, The Islands Folk Festival) their debut album continues to build upon that buzz. 

Dylan’s last solo EP Everything I’ve Known, was recorded with Juno and Western Canadian Music Award winning producer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, Yukon Blonde, New Pornographers), and co-produced with Rolla Olak. His sleight of hand is clear in the depth of sound and psychedelic overtones on this record.  Stone has toured relentlessly across Canada and the west coast and in this record you can hear the call of the road. He sings of broken hearts and restless spirits, of star-crossed lovers tearing across deserted black top. Influences are clear, think Tom Petty, early Ryan Adams and Wilco, yet Stone has his own take on the heartland rock of his heroes, rightfully earning a spot in any dog-eared record collection. The four song EP represents an ever-evolving sound in Dylan’s songwriting, showcasing where his muse currently lives. The songs are catchy, expansive, and intimate. Lead track ‘Everything I’ve Known’ is the rousing call of a modern-day troubadour, whereas the fuzzy fades and garage rock resonance of ‘I’ll Never Walk Away’ show a darker, headier side. Dylan’s electric music is energized and passionate and carries the spirit of his influences on its sleeve. Dylan is not ashamed to show his musical roots. When performing with his electric outfit the music created draws comparisons to Wilco, Neil Young, and The Band.  

When not performing with The Unfaithful Servants or The Dylan Stone Band, Stone can be found performing as a solo artist touring, folk clubs, concert venues and house concerts around Western Canada.  Stone also stays busy in a variety of passion projects that fulfill his musical appetite.  He is the founder of The Great Divide | Canada’s Tribute to The Band, A Journey Through The Past: The Neil Young Show and The Dirty Stones’ Rolling Stones Tribute, The Ravens 50’s Rock & Roll Revue, Whiskey River - Classic Country.  These acts can be found performing in theaters and clubs throughout Western Canada and give Dylan an outlet to pay homage to the music that inspires him and which he holds close to his heart.
All of these bands and projects are a natural way of life for Dylan, whether performing solo or in any number of collaborations he is constantly in pursuit of his muse, forever chasing the songs, stories, people and places that inspire them.
